MODULE # 1
LEARNING THE TAROT: A BEGINNER GUIDE
There is an ancient universal belief that everything in the universe is interconnected and that events and patterns are all part of an invisible force. We’ve come to believe that the Tarot card we select is prompted by an invisible force or something inner that needs to be expressed.
If you find yourself curious about this or any other part of tarot card reading then this course is for you.
In this introductory course to tarot card reading we will explore:
-
The difference between an Oracle deck and a Tarot deck.
-
The history of Tarot card reading
-
Myths and misconceptions about Tarot cards
-
The structure of the Tarot deck
-
Choosing, shuffling, cleansing, and caring for your deck
-
How to introduce yourself to your deck and allow it to introduce itself to you
Note: Module #1 is the only prerequisite for modules #2 through #6. Modules #2 through #6 can be taken in any order.
MODULE #2
GETTING TO KNOW THE MAJOR ARCANA : Part #1
Come with me as we use the Rider Waite Smith system of tarot to explore the fascinating world of the Major Arcana. Of the two sections in a tarot deck, this section is the heart of the deck and it represents the inner realm of important life events and lessons, which are often beyond our control.
Together we will:
-
Look at various activities meant to help you get to know your Major Arcana cards numbered 0-11
-
Briefly explore the story of the Fool's Journey
-
Dissect each card individually for its symbolism and meanings
-
Perform some single card readings for ourselves and others using only the major Arcana cards
PREREQUISITE: MODULE #1

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR MINOR ARCANA : Part #1
The Minor Arcana is a section of a Tarot deck that contains 56 cards. It is further divided into four suits: cups, swords, wands, and pentacles. Each suit contains an ace through ten as well as four court cards.
These cards represent people and events of everyday life and the situations depicted are usually within our control.
Join me for an in-depth look at the Wands and Pentacles of the Minor Arcana cards represented in a Raider Waite-Smith Tarot deck.
Together we will:
-
Explore each suit and its associated elemental characteristics
-
Search for the symbolism embedded in each card’s number and illustration
-
Create a storyline of events that occurs within each of these two suits
-
Practice one card readings using only these two suits of the Minor Arcana

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR COURT CARDS
Think of a Tarot deck as containing the elements of a movie or a novel. The Major Arcana are the themes, the Minor Arcana are the scenes and actions, the Court cards are the people living, experiencing and animating the themes and scenes. The court cards show up in a reading because they represent someone who has, is, or will be playing a role in the situation that the reading is examining. The roles they play are more important than the actual person they represent.
Together we will:
-
Visit the court cards in groups divided by rank
-
Dissect each card individually for its symbolism and meanings
-
Perform some single card readings for ourselves and others using only the major Arcana cards
